Beatriz Marcet Champagne
Dr Beatriz Marcet Champagne (United States/Argentina) is Executive Director at the InterAmerican Heart Foundation, an organisation that has made important contributions to research, tobacco control, risk factor prevention, and cardiovascular emergency care in Latin America and the Caribbean. The IAHF has developed advocacy networks in the region, including a network of young people to focus on the three main risk factors. Her organisation has managed the CARMELA Study, a public-private research project to identify risk factors for CVD in seven Latin American cities. Her areas of expertise include: Advocacy in tobacco control; CVD prevention; Nutrition/diet, obesity and physical activity, ecological/policy approaches; Youth issues - she is involved in the InterAmerican Health Youth Network; Workplace prevention - particularly smoke-free workplaces.


Jorge A. H. Ramirez
Dr. Jorge A. H. Ramirez is a medical doctor and economist and specializes in Epidemiology at the School of Public Health. He studied at the University of London in Public Health, Health Economics and Planning (London School of Tropical Medicine, London School of Economics). Jorge has a Ph.D. in Ethnohistory at the National School of Anthropology and History of Medicine. He is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and of Anthropology of Health at the National School of Anthropology and History in Mexico. Jorge is the director of the Project on Prevention of Chronic Diseases for the Inter-American Heart Foundation. He is also the principal investigator of the CIH Project for the Oxford Health Alliance.


Maria Teresa Fernandez Ramos
Dr. Maria Teresa Fernandez Ramos is a dental surgeon by the Faculty of Dentistry at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), with MA of Hospital Services at the Mexico City Autonomous University. She is the ex-Head of Health services at the municipality of Tlalpan and lecturer in Social Odontology at UNAM. She holds graduate diplomas in Epidemiology, Health Services Management and Odontopediatrics. She has wide experiences in Health Services Administration and intervention projects in community health in Xochimilco and Tlalpan. She is a Co-Principal Investigator of the CIH project with the Oxford Health Alliance.


Oscar René Benavides Cárabes
Physical anthropologist Oscar Rene Benavides Carabes is a native of the state of Oaxaca in the South of Mexico. He is a graduate of the National School of Anthropology and History in Physical Anthropology. He was also a member of the seminars on Population and Behavior of the National Institute of Anthropology and History of the Seminar on Social vulnerability to disasters of the Project on the effects of climatic oscillation Southeast Pacific El Niño of the Center for Research and Higher Studies in Social Anthropology (CIESAS) working in the area of health research in Mexico and its history. He is a Research Associate for the CIH Project of the Oxford Health Alliance.
